Stag Beetle

The Giant red stag beetle ( Procsopocoilus Elaphi )

I have been successful in breeding this Malaysian stag beetle and have many larvae on the way, also I am breeding giant African tiger beetles       ( Mantichora Sp ). Many books seem to inform people that the over-sized jaws of the male which are used for wrestling other males during mating, are very weak in comparison to the females smaller but stronger jaws, having been nipped by a male, believe me it hurts and so does the females bite. These stags are very aggressive towards each other during mating with the male trying to crush the female and the female nipping at the males legs, strange behaviour for beetles which are not carnivorous in comparison to the tiger beetles who seem quite calm when together
